Bed bugs are known to attack people, but what about our four-legged companions? Here’s all you need to know about dog bed bug bites.

Q: DO DOGS GET BITE BY BED BUGS?

A: Although bed bugs prefer to prey on people, they may bite any animal. Dogs, cats, rats, and birds are all included. Although dogs aren’t a common host for bed bugs, their bedding may provide an excellent hiding place for these pests.

Q: HOW DO BED BUG BITE ON DOGS APPEAR?

A: You may see little red lumps on your dog’s tummy and limbs if they have been bitten by bed bugs. Bed bug bites usually appear in groups of two or three in a straight line. These might be difficult to see depending on the length of your dog’s hair. If your dog scratches often, its skin may get inflamed, resulting in a bed bug rash.

Q: WHAT SIGNS OF BED BUG SHOULD YOU BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR?

A: Even our canine companions become itchy from bed bug bites. Scratching, biting, licking, and overall irritation should all be avoided. Check for spotting around your pet’s bedding in addition to bed bug bites. These traces might be dried blood from your dog’s bite or a darker stain that indicates bed insect excrement. Another secondary indicator of bed bugs to look for is exoskeletons surrounding your pet’s bedding. Shed skins resemble bed bugs, but they are transparent and empty. Bed insect eggs are tiny and difficult to discover, but they are a good sign that a bed bug infestation has started. Bed bugs may be crawling around your pet’s bedding, which you may see. Adults are tiny, flat, and resemble apple seeds in form. Before consuming a blood meal, they are a reddish-brown tint, and subsequently, they are a vivid, blood red color.

Getting rid of bed bugs is the sole remedy for bed bug bites on dogs or any member of your household.
